A person dressed in a pink, fluffy dress with black gloves laying on a pink wooden dresser inside a colorful, eclectic room with pink walls and a ceiling. The room has various quirky, artistic sculptures of women and bright, patterned decorations and curtains. A neon sign reading 'Gloria' is on the red draped wall behind the person.

“A refreshing dose of Literary Rebellion.”

The banned one. The one that sold out within weeks. Now back in print.

Our mainstream retailer called it ‘offensive.’ We call it literature.

After a debut at the Frankfurt Book fair, Issue 003 lands on the literary scene with a cast of local and international writers writing the risqué, intelligent and beautiful content Folly is known for.

Issue 003 features Kirsha Kaechele on ego destruction via ayahuasca and online trolling, Max Rashbrooke at Fieldays, Danyl McLauchlan on AI and creativity, Australian writer Katy Knighton on the act all teenagers do that parents refuse to discuss, and the Reserve Bank's chief economist explaining why the New Zealand economy is fucked. Plus Nikki Gemmell's essay on the word cunt, which one national retailer found more offensive than its own wall of sadomasochistic billionaire romance, and a quantity of poetry containing the f-word that apparently constituted a threat to family values.

Designed to be read, kept, gifted and displayed, Folly is a luxury literary product centered on fun and entertainment.

Order now before someone else bans it.

The sell out Issue 002 of Folly is back with a third edition. This issue builds on the sexy, strange and humorous tone set by the first issue of this literary journal. This is high art, mixed with high drama. It’s a coffee table book, holiday reading material, and a cross between a Victorian gossip rag and legit literature.

And it’s been so popular we’ve done a reprint, in a short limited run. Issue 002 contains a variety of short stories, short fiction and short poems designed for people with short attention spans who don’t mind the occasional swear word.

Issue 002 opens with Greymouth artists Sam Ducker-Jones on the cover and inside flaps with original art by Kerrie Hughes. Interviews with Aaron Hape, Dame Gaylene Preston.

Stories and poems by Allan Ramsay, Bernard Steeds, Michelle Taylor, Lila Pitcher, Rowan Taigel, Emma Gilkison and Laura Borrowdale, among others.

Artworks by Kerrie Hughes, Natasha Wright, Loren Marks, Emily Hartley Skudder, Damien Kurth, Claudia Kogachi, Russ Flat, Charlotte Robertson, Brittany Walker-Smith, Debbie Harris, Lucas Grogan.

“Folly is a eyebrow-raising, whip-smart, rollercoaster of a read.”
