NZ Author Caroline Barron Joins Folly Selection Team

We are delighted to announce that New Zealand writer Caroline Barron (Te Uri O Hau), an award-winning author, story coach, presenter and manuscript assessor has joined forces with Folly Journal to take part in the selection panel for our 2023 Short Story Competition. .

Caroline is a Creative New Zealand funding assessor, creative writing teacher, presenter, and was a board member for the Michael King Writers Centre from 2017 to 2021, where she headed the residency selection committee. During 2022 she was Acting Marketing and Development Manager for Auckland Writers Festival | Waituhi o Tāmaki.

She has been a columnist for North & South and her work has been published by Landfall, Awa Wahine, Author, Three Lamps, Next, New Zealand Herald and more. As a book consultant and manuscript assessor, she has worked on more than 100 works of fiction and non-fiction. She has reviewed books for Kete and Otago Daily Times. She judges regional and international writing competitions, as well as grant and residency applications.

Caroline resides in Aotearoa, New Zealand, between Auckland and Northland’s Ripiro (Baylys) Beach.
