Folly Journal Inaugural Short Story Prizewinners

We are delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural Folly Journal Short Story Prize.The competition was fierce, and our panel of judges were impressed by the array of authentic, brilliant, and boundary-pushing writing submitted by talented writers from around the globe, which has made awarding these prizes an incredible honour for our team.

1st Prize Winner: George Titheridge - "I'm Obsessed with You”

George Titheridge's short story, "I'm Obsessed with You," hooked our judges with its fantastic voice - strong and sparse. Congratulations to George on winning the first prize. George’s  work will be featured prominently in our upcoming publication, and they will receive a well-deserved cash prize of $1000.

2nd Prize Winners (We couldn’t pick just one!):

Fritha Waters - "That's Just Her"

We are delighted to announce Fritha Waters as one of our second prize winners with her beautiful work, "That's Just Her." Fritha's writing drew us in and was an immediate favourite.

Catherine Hart - "Not What I'm Looking For"

Our other second prize winner is Catherine Hart, whose piece "Not What I'm Looking For" was incredibly engaging and left a lasting impression on our judges.

3rd Prize Winner: Rose Cook - "Views of My Property Manager"

A round of applause for Rose Cook, our third prize winner with her brilliant, peculiar yet somehow relatable story “Views of My Property Manager."

The Folly team would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the talented writers who submitted their work to the Folly Journal Short Story Competition. Your creativity and vision have made this competition what we dreamed it could be. We are incredibly proud to have received such outstanding submissions, and we are excited to share these winning pieces with our readers in our upcoming publication launching November 2023.
